At FundSmart, data privacy and the protection of confidential information is our biggest priority. As an emerging startup that abides by and follows all the necessary protocol, we have also incorporated the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance into our daily operations. This ordinance has been in effect in Hong Kong since December 1996, and clearly outlines how data should be collected, its handle and use, as well as other provisions imposing further compliance requirements.
Please be informed that the information we collect from our customers is only for a lawful purpose directly related to a function or activity carried out by our employees, and the data collected is necessary and adequate but not excessive for carrying out these functions. Moreover, the means of collection will also be lawful and fair, wherein our customers will be informed whether it is obligatory or voluntary to provide particular data.
Our employees are also required to take all necessary steps to ensure that personal data is accurate and is not kept longer than is necessary for the fulfillment of the purpose for which the data is used. In the case that Fundsmart keeps such data for an extended period of time, even though erasure is not prohibited by law, this will be a punishable offence and criminal action would be taken accordingly.
The use of personal data for any new purpose which is not or is unrelated to the original purpose when collecting the data is prohibited, unless with the customer’s voluntary consent. A customer can withdraw his/her consent previously given by written notice.
Fundsmart will also, according to the ordinance, make sure that it is protected against unauthorized or accidental access, processing, loss or use. Furthermore, we will also take all practicable steps to ensure openness of our personal data policies and practices, the kind of personal data held and the main purposes for holding it.
Please rest assured that your personal data will be protected at all times. Our company values data privacy of our customers as much as they do. We will ensure the confidentiality of our customer’s information and will do everything it takes to maintain the trust of our valued customers.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
